Pass on your faith to your kids by being a godly example
God delights in children. He takes great pleasure in them. They are the greatest gifts He gives to husbands & wives. Psalm 127:3 proclaims, “Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from Him.” God loves children!!
Dedicating a child is an important part of our Worship Service here at Life Church. It is our desire as a church family to partner with parents on their child’s spiritual journey. It’s a sweet time for parents to make a commitment before the Lord to submit their child to God’s will and to raise that child according to God’s word, God’s wisdom, and God’s ways.
Dedicating a child is rooted in Deuteronomy 6:4-7 which says, “Hear. O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command your today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when your walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when your rise.”
As parents if we truly wish for our children to one day love & follow God, then our lives must be an example and we should love God with all we have. This passage in Deuteronomy also makes it clear that the responsibility of teaching children belongs to parents & as parents we are to seize those teachable moments throughout the current rhythm of our day & throughout our kids’ lives. Parents have a responsibility to teach their children about God & as a church family it is our responsibility & privilege to partner with parents & families to travel this journey with them. Christian parents who dedicate a child are making a promise to the Lord before the church congregation to do everything within their power to raise the child in a Godly manner, prayerfully until he or she can make a decision on his or her own to follow God.
